The questions every couple asks

01Can we legally get married in Italy if we're not Italian?

Yes! Foreign couples can legally get married in Italy, either through a civil ceremony or, in certain cases, a religious ceremony with legal recognition. You can also choose a symbolic ceremony, which doesn't require the same legal paperwork. Many couples prefer to complete the legal formalities at home and celebrate their wedding in Tuscany.

For a legally recognised marriage, the documents and procedures depend on your nationality and personal circumstances. I can help you understand the general requirements and point you towards the appropriate authorities or professionals for the specific documentation you'll need.

02How far in advance should we start planning?

Ideally, 12 to 18 months gives us plenty of time to explore venues, find the right suppliers, and plan everything without rushing, especially if you're considering popular months like June, July, or September.

That said, I've planned amazing weddings in just three months. Yes, really!

Of course, much depends on your flexibility, the number of guests, and the availability of venues and suppliers. So if your date is closer than you'd like, get in touch anyway, and we'll see what's realistically possible.

03When is the best time of year to get married in Tuscany?

May, June, and September are particularly popular, thanks to their generally pleasant temperatures and beautiful countryside.

July and August can be very hot, so I'd usually recommend planning an outdoor ceremony for later in the afternoon. April and October can also be lovely, with a different atmosphere, cooler temperatures, and sometimes more flexibility with venues and suppliers.

It's also worth considering seasonal prices, as some venues and accommodation providers have different rates depending on the time of year.

And remember, a destination wedding is often more than just one day! Many couples and their guests spend several days in Italy, enjoying the countryside, exploring nearby towns, or planning experiences together. The warmer months can offer plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities and making a real holiday out of the trip.

There's no perfect month for everyone. It depends on the celebration you're imagining, your budget, your guests, and the kind of experience you'd like to share with them.

04Do we have to come to Italy before the wedding?

Not necessarily! We can organise almost everything remotely, through video calls, emails, messages, and detailed planning documents.

Of course, visiting Tuscany before the wedding can be a wonderful experience! You'll have the chance to see your venue in person, enjoy a menu tasting, and arrange your bridal hair and makeup trial. These are usually the main reasons couples choose to come, and they're also some of the most exciting parts of the planning process.

A bridal hair and makeup trial is always recommended when possible, but if you can't arrange one, we can share detailed references and preferences with your beauty team in advance.

And if travelling isn't possible, don't worry. Part of my job is to be your eyes on the ground here in Italy, working with trusted professionals and helping you feel confident about every decision, even from thousands of miles away.

Visiting Italy before your wedding is an opportunity, not an obligation. And distance should never be a reason to feel anxious about your wedding plans.

05What does a wedding in Tuscany actually cost?

There's no single answer, because every wedding is different. Guest numbers, the venue, the time of year, the suppliers you choose, and the kind of experience you want to create all influence the final cost.

And it's not just about the obvious expenses. Things like furniture rentals, lighting, transport, extra staffing, accommodation and venue requirements can make a real difference to the overall budget.

That's why I believe it's important to discuss your budget from the very beginning. It's not just about how much you spend, but how you choose to allocate it. I'll help you understand what's realistic, make informed decisions, and invest in what truly matters to you, so you always know where your money is going and what you're paying for.

If your expectations and budget don't quite match, I'd much rather tell you early on than let you fall in love with something that isn't financially realistic.

06Will everyone speak English?

Not necessarily, and that's completely normal when working with local suppliers in Italy.

Some speak fluent English, others are less confident, and some prefer communicating in Italian. But that doesn't mean they aren't excellent professionals!

I'll be your main point of contact, helping you communicate your ideas, understand proposals, clarify details, and avoid misunderstandings along the way.

The important thing is that you feel comfortable asking questions and understand what you're agreeing to, regardless of which language your suppliers speak.

07What if it rains on our wedding day?

If only we had a crystal ball! We can follow weather forecasts and seasonal trends, but the truth is that nobody can guarantee sunshine.

Of course, between June and September, it's generally less common to experience an entire day of continuous rain in Tuscany, although the weather can always surprise us!

That's why I always recommend choosing a venue with a proper Plan B from the very beginning. And I don't mean just somewhere to move dinner if it rains. We need to think about the ceremony, aperitif, and every other part of the celebration.

A beautiful outdoor venue isn't necessarily the right choice if its indoor alternatives don't work for your wedding. It's something we should consider before booking, not a few days before the big day.

Once we've agreed on the backup arrangements, you'll know what happens if the weather changes, and so will your suppliers. No last-minute guessing.

But here's something I genuinely believe: rain doesn't have to ruin a wedding. Sometimes, with a little flexibility, good organisation, and the right attitude, those unexpected moments can become some of the most memorable ones!

The goal isn't to control the weather. It's to be prepared for it, so you can still enjoy your day, whatever happens.

08Can we choose our own wedding suppliers?

Absolutely! I don't work with a fixed list of suppliers that you have to choose from.

Over the years, I've built relationships with many talented professionals, and I'm always happy to recommend people whose work, approach, and pricing suit your wedding.

But if you've already found a photographer you love, a particular florist, or any other professional you'd like to work with, that's absolutely fine too! And the same goes for your venue: if you've already found and booked your dream location, you can still get in touch with me for help planning the rest of your wedding.

What matters to me is finding the right team for you, not simply choosing people I already know. I'll help you evaluate your options, understand proposals, and make sure everyone can work together smoothly.

09What's the difference between a venue coordinator, a wedding coordinator, and a wedding planner?

It's a very common question, and the three roles can sometimes overlap, which makes things a little confusing!

A venue coordinator generally works on behalf of the venue. Their main responsibility is to oversee everything related to the property, its facilities, and the services included in your venue agreement. They're an important part of the team, making sure everything runs smoothly from the venue's side, but their primary responsibility is to the venue itself rather than exclusively to you as a couple.

A wedding coordinator usually becomes involved closer to the wedding day, once you've already planned the celebration and booked your suppliers. Their role is to bring everything together, create a detailed timeline, coordinate the professionals involved, and oversee the event itself, so you can relax and enjoy your wedding without having to worry about managing everything.

A wedding planner, on the other hand, works with you throughout the planning process, from finding the right venue and suppliers to developing the design, organising logistics, managing the details, and coordinating the wedding day.

The main difference? A venue coordinator looks after the venue, a wedding coordinator brings your existing plans together, and a wedding planner helps you build the entire celebration from the beginning.

Of course, the exact responsibilities can vary depending on the professional and the services included.

10Can you help with accommodation and transportation for our guests?

Of course! When you're planning a destination wedding, your guests' experience is an important part of the celebration too.

I can help you explore accommodation options, whether you're hoping to have everyone staying together at the wedding venue or prefer to suggest nearby hotels, villas, and other places to stay.

I can also assist with organising transportation, from airport transfers to shuttles between accommodation and the wedding venue, especially when you're celebrating somewhere in the Tuscan countryside where getting around without a car isn't always easy.

We can discuss what makes the most sense based on your venue, your guests, and your budget. You don't necessarily need to organise and pay for everyone's accommodation or transportation, but it's important to think about these practical details early on.
