Tuscany has some truly extraordinary wedding venues.
Historic villas, panoramic terraces, beautiful gardens, vineyards, olive groves, and countryside estates that look absolutely incredible in photographs.
And I completely understand how easy it is to fall in love with a property before you've even visited it.
But there's something I always encourage my couples to remember:
A venue can be absolutely beautiful and still not be the right choice for your wedding.
Let me explain what I mean.
Beautiful photographs don't tell you everything
When you see a wedding venue online, you're usually looking at its most beautiful features.
The ceremony setup overlooking the hills. The perfectly decorated dinner table. The swimming pool surrounded by candles.
And those photographs can be a wonderful starting point.
But they don't necessarily show you how the venue works.
For example, that beautiful garden might be perfect for a ceremony with 50 guests but too small for 120.
The courtyard you love might look incredible during the day but require significant additional lighting for an evening reception.
And the terrace with the breathtaking view might not be available for dinner or dancing.
These aren't necessarily problems.
They're simply things you need to know before making a decision.
Think about the wedding you actually want
Before recommending venues, I always try to understand what kind of celebration a couple is imagining.
Do you want a long, relaxed dinner under the stars?
Is dancing until late one of your biggest priorities?
Would you love to have all your guests staying together for several days?
Or perhaps you're planning a small, intimate wedding and don't want to rent an enormous property that you'll barely use.
The answers make a real difference.
For example, if having a great party is essential to you, a venue with strict music restrictions might not be the best choice, no matter how beautiful it is.
And if you want all your guests to stay on-site, a property with only a handful of bedrooms might require additional accommodation and transport arrangements.
The right venue should support the kind of wedding you want, not force you to change everything to fit its limitations.
The hidden costs of a beautiful venue
Here's another aspect that's easy to underestimate.
Two venues with similar rental prices can lead to very different overall wedding costs.
One might include tables, chairs, lighting, and suitable spaces for catering.
Another might require almost everything to be brought in by external suppliers.
And that's before considering transport, accommodation, setup requirements, or a possible rain plan.
Sometimes, the venue that initially looks less expensive turns out to require a much larger investment.
That doesn't mean it isn't worth it!
If it's the property you truly love and the overall cost works for you, it might still be the perfect choice.
But I believe couples should understand these differences before committing.
Don't underestimate the importance of a plan B
I know, nobody wants to imagine rain on their wedding day in Tuscany.
Especially when you've chosen a venue for its beautiful outdoor spaces!
But weather is something we simply can't control.
And an indoor alternative isn't automatically a good plan B just because it exists.
Is it large enough for your guests? Can it accommodate the dinner setup you've chosen? Will there be enough room for musicians or dancing? Does it still offer the atmosphere you're looking for?
These are questions worth asking.
Because a venue should work for your wedding even if the weather doesn't cooperate.
Your dream venue might be somewhere you haven't considered yet
Some of the most interesting properties aren't necessarily the most famous ones.
And I genuinely enjoy discovering venues that couples might never have found on their own.
Sometimes, a less well-known villa offers exactly the atmosphere, flexibility, and practical facilities a couple needs.
Other times, a famous property really is the perfect match.
There's no rule.
My job isn't to convince you to choose the venue I like most. It's to help you understand which venue works best for you.
And that means looking at the beautiful details, but also at everything happening behind the scenes.
Because the right venue isn't necessarily the one with the most impressive photographs.
It's the one where the wedding you're imagining can actually happen.
If you're searching for your wedding venue in Tuscany, I'd be happy to help you explore the possibilities.
